Supermarket Staple Products

One of my favourite types of recipe development is cleaning up the ingredients in supermarket staple products, like ketchup, or teriyaki sauce, or tortillas. These items are so readily available and feel so indispensable in our every day diets that throwing them in our cart at the supermarket is something we do without even thinking. The thing is, so many of these types of foods, are highly processed and filled with very “unclean” ingredients like preservatives and artificial flavour enhancers.  The last chapter in It All Begins with Food is dedicated to remakes of staples, and I also had the pleasure of making one of these recipes at BT in Vancouver. See below for how to make Homemade Ketchup! It’s easier and less time consuming than you think, and so much healthier than the store-bought version.
